PL 3597/05...100% PL 2448/04...65% Regional Geology: According to the Barth map this area consists predominantly of Bukoban sediments thrust over Archaean granites. A small area of greenstones exists in the NW of the project area on PL 2102/02. Principal Structures: Bukoban thrusting to the E. Geology of the Prospecting Areas: PL 2448/04: Bukoban sedimentary rocks underlie the western and eastern parts of the concession. The south-central area is underlain by granite-gneiss. Some of the Bukoban is reported to contain conglomerates with potential for palaeoplacer gold mineralization. Good outcrop occurs at Kisenga Hill, which consists of highly silicified carbonates and ferruginised cherts. PL 2182/03: The western and eastern parts of the license are underlain by Bukoban sedimentary rocks, and the central area underlain by granite-gneiss, (according to the Barth map). A BIF unit, which is indicated on an unpublished 1:125 000 geological map of the Tanzanian Mineral Resources Division, was confirmed to exist at Isizibo Hill, which is also the intersection point of projected N, NNW and NW trending magnetic lineaments. Numerous old artisinal workings are evident at Isizibo Hill. PL 1947/02: Regional mapping indicates the entire area to be underlain by Bukoban sediments. There are indications of some inliers of greenstone material. No systematic ground exploration has been reported. PL 2510/04: Initial compilations showed the entire license to be underlain by granite. However, more recent reports suggest that some 60% of the license is actually underlain by a greenstone lithotype. Field observation failed to recognize any greenstone units directly, but an approximate contact between the granite and the inferred greenstone has been recorded.
PL 2102/02: According to the Barth map, a granite-greenstone terrain forms the eastern two thirds of the license, and sedimentary rocks of the Bukoban System underlie the western third. The western most extremity of the Geita Greenstone Belt strikes diagonally in a northwesterly direction across the area. Geophysical information (potential field tilt) indicates the extension of greenstones possibly transected by a northwest trending mega-shear. The northwestern half of the license is dominated by magnetic anomalies generated by NE trending Bukoban-age dolerite dykes. PL 2198/03: No samples have been collected. PL 2448/04: Seven grab samples were collected at Kisenga Hill, a single sample did report an anomalous 1364ppm for Cr. PL 2182/03: Eight grab samples were collected from ferricrete and BIF, which reported insignificant gold values. A single composite sample collected from a termite mound on the southern slope of Isizibo Hill did, however report an anomalous 0.46g/t Au. PL 1947/02: Some 11 samples were collected from pisolitic duricrust, and a single termite mound, which all reported insignificant Au assays. PL 2510/04: A single sample was collected from a pisolitic duricrust, containing quartz vein float. The sample reported an insignificant Au value.
PL 2102/02: Pangea had carried out some soil sampling, stream sediment sampling and lithological sampling. No details or results are reported.
