Regional Geology : The Majimoto project area consists of 2 licenses with a combined area of 51 square kilometers. It is located midway between the Musoma goldfields to the SW, and the Mara goldfields towards the NE. The area is almost entirely covered by mbuga, with the exception of the SW corner of the property where basalt, chert and BIF are seen to outcrop along the Kemamwe and Getenga hills. The property is strategically situated within a narrow NE trending corridor, which hosts proven gold reserves at Afrika Mashariki (130 t Au, Placer Dome), Nyabigena (2.2 Moz @ 3.5 g/t, Placer Dome), Nyabirama (2.2 Moz @ 3.5 g/t, Placer Dome) and Buhemba (0.8 Moz @ 2.5 g/t, Meremeta). Principal Structures : Principal geological structures have been inferred from limited airborne geophysical data. The principal litho-stratigraphy would appear to be E-W, with relatively strong linears being observed in the area surrounding the project area, which trend NW-SE and WNW-ESE. A prominent foliation has been measured along basalt outcrop in the SW portion of the license, which generally trend E-W, with steep northerly dips. Geology of the Prospecting Areas: The license is covered by mbuga, reddish brown lateritic soils, and rock outcrops, with some outcrops occurring in the mbuga. Lateritic soils, reddish brown in color occur to the SW of the license area where large basalt hills exist. The central and N part of the license area is mainly covered by mbuga with outcropping granodiorite, chert, felsic volcanic and argillite. Narrow interlayers of chemical ironstone (with visible sulphides) can also be found within basalt, which are exposed in erosion gullies. The greenstones are in contact with granodiorite in the N. This contact forms the principle target for gold mineralization. Exploration Completed:
Geophysics: The area has been covered by an airborne magnetic and radiometric survey (West German 1987 program).
